THE YEAR IN GRIME

For those who couldn't or wouldn't follow the fate of GRIME and DUBSTEP
in 2007 Martin Clark delivers a neat retrospective over at
PITCHFORK

The UK Grime protagonists do not seem to be so very sure of their own status right now according to our friend Frede (what's going on with REPUBLISH by the way? where are you moving the server to, to fucking Mars??) who recently met CAMEO in London overhearing him say: "GRIME IS DEAD". Oops, watchamouth, people might feel irritated...
Is Cameo right? we can't really tell, not so much Grime on our stereo lately but we wouldn't wanna miss the great shows of Wiley or Roll Deep at our tent at Splash festival last summer (and you know what? we're doin it, we're doin it, we're doin it again! Splash 2008 here we come!!). Grime live still kicks like no other.
And as for Dubstep - hmm, some amazing productions for sure but nothing for dancefloors inna Sickgirlsstylee me tink. And Burial, SORRY, that's TRANCE,
advanced say or nerdy but still.
But then again there are guys like ONEMAN who provides his own translation of things (thanks for the link BELINDA).
see - the future is still bright (and warm. Bali-ho ho ho).
