RIDING ROUND THE BLOGS

DIZZEE RASCAL - WASTEMAN LIVE
it's this time of the year again: the best-of-2005 listings have to be put together like multi-layered puzzles of hear/feel/see emo-decisions prepped with some rational nerdism.
and what turns out to be my number 1 album?
DIZZEE RASCAL "BOY IN DA CORNER" from the year 2003, actually.
hey - this is wrong, you will say. no it's not. when i think of all those Grime & related albums of 2005, then i can not find a single one that has the same freshness, originality and verve to it like DIZZEE's debut. one of the reasons for this is definitely the take of the industry or those industry-craving wannabes on "songs-for-the-ladies" bullshit. what is that supposed to mean anyway? what kind of ladies you think are into Grime? do you really have to listen to ROLL DEEP while holding hands and staring at the moon with blurry eyes? nope. could you just leave that in the damn closet right next to the stinky corpse of r.-unbelievable-dumbfucker-kelly, pls? thx.
WAYNE&WAX DUBBLE DUB MIX
what a perfect little mix to start the day with - especially a sunny sunday with snow-white roof-tops all around town. enjoy.
DJ ELEVEN HOUSTON ROCKS MIX
followed by my favourite DIRTY SOUTH HIP HOP mix right now.
THE RUB's DJ ELEVEN got all the right tracks lined up in a juicy, bass-heavy houston-so-real spirit, absolutely delicious. get it.
JUELZ SANTANA, YOUNG JEEZY, LIL WAYNE - MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU
i got the feeling (i.e.hope) that there are some more DIPSET / DIPLOMATS fans out there by now? hello germany? in case you don't really know what i'm talking about or you've heard of the brooklyn based clan already but don't know where to start at - ok, do this:
get the "BACK LIKE COOKED CRACK" 1-3 mixtapes and the brandnew album "WHAT THE GAME'S BEEN MISSING" all by JUELZ SANTANA. the SANTANA / DIPSET sound gets too close sometimes to kinda like a pathetic warren g/tupac heavy strings & choir richness but the harder, more stripped-down tracks like the one above are really doing it for me. time for a DIPSET party over here, right?
STACS OF STAMINA - ROLL FEAT. EARS
some more cool shit for you to indulge. STACS OF STAMINA seem to be from sweden, they are buddies with TTC and MC EARS and just released a brilliant album full of €CRUNK at the highly recommended WERK label.
